Technical data Kapton®

Kapton® polyimide heating elements are ideal for applications with space and weight restrictions or for applications where the heating element is exposed to vacuum, radiation, oil or chemicals.

SPECIFICATIONS STANDARD heaters theater:

  • Temperature range: -40°C to +149°C with adhesive film (-200°C to +260°C without adhesive film)
  • Maximum operating temperature: +260°C without adhesive film

Silicone heaters not only have excellent flexibility, but also impressive thermal stability.

Important criteria for selecting your heater

When selecting standard heaters we recommend considering some key criteria to find the best possible solution for your application:

Process and temperature requirements: Analyze the required temperature range and desired control accuracy. Standard heaters cover a wide temperature range – Kapton® from -200°C to +260°C and silicone from -40°C to +235°C – with a temperature stability of ±1°C , thus offering versatile application possibilities. If you require higher temperatures, we recommend the flexible all-polyimide heaters up to +300°C or MICA heaters up to +600°C.

Power requirements and electrical parameters: Determine the required heat per unit area and the required operating voltage . Kapton® heaters have a maximum power density of 18.6 W/cm² and a maximum operating voltage of 480 V, while silicone heaters can even operate at 750 V.

Dimensions and integration: Check the required formats and dimensions of your heating surface. Since standard heaters are offered in various predefined sizes, their integration into existing systems can be easily achieved, even using various self-adhesive films. Please refer to the data sheets for dimensions and designations.

Environmental conditions: Consider special requirements for resistance to environmental influences and design conditions. Our silicone heaters are multi-zone and multi-layer compatible in design and are chemical-resistant. Our Kapton heaters are also vacuum and cleanroom compatible, as well as resistant to UV radiation and oil. If you're looking for waterproof or even submersible solutions, our butyl heaters are worth a look.
